How (Not) to Say Impossible Things by current UEA student Naoise Gale has won the 2022 Ledbury Poetry Competition. She will receive a prize of £1,000 and a week’s poetry course at the Arvon Foundation. Naoise (pictured) joined the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) this year. Her debut pamphlet After the Flood Comes the Apologies was published by Nine Pens in October 2021. Her first full-length collection IMPLODE EXPLODE was published by Beir Bua in 2022. Naoise was longlisted for the 2023 Disabled Poets Prize and the 2022 Fish Poetry Prize and was shortlisted in the Creative Futures’ Writers Award in 2021. Her work has also been published in Opia Lit, Versification and Nightingale and Sparrow, among others.
