Freeze is the new novel by UEA alumna Kate Simants and is published by Viper Books this week. Kate holds an MA in Creative Writing from Brunel University, graduating in 2007, and was among the first intake to UEA’s MA in Crime Fiction, from which she graduated in 2017. She won the 2019 Bath Novel Award for A Ruined Girl, which she began during her MA and which was published by Viper in 2020. Prior to this Kate spent several years as an investigative broadcast journalist, for both Channel 4 and the BBC, specialising in investigative documentaries, police shows and undercover work. Her first novel Lock Me In was shortlisted in manuscript for the 2015 Crime Writers’ Association Debut Dagger, and was published in 2019.
