Hymnal is a first collection of poetry by UEA alumna Julia Bell and is published this week by Parthian Books. Julia graduated from the UEA Creative Writing MA in 1996 and was the co-editor with Paul Magrs of The Creative Writing Coursebook, published by Macmillan in 2001. She has published three novels with Macmillan Children’s Books: Massive (2003), Dirty Work (2007) and The Dark Light (2015). Radical Attention: An essay on the Battle for our Attention in the Age of Distraction was published by Peninsula Press last year. Julia is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Birkbeck, University of London, and is the founder and director of the Writers’ Hub website and the annual anthology The Mechanics’ Institute Review
