UEA alumna Erin Soros has won the 30th Writers’ Union of Canada Annual Short Prose Competition for Emerging Writers with her story ‘Please Don’t Do This To Me’. Erin graduated from the PhD in Creative & Critical Writing at UEA in 2015, having initially joined UEA as the 2008 Charles Pick Writing Fellow. During her time at UEA she was shortlisted for the BBC National Short Story Award in 2008, twice shortlisted for the Costa Short Story Award, in 2013 and 2015, and longlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Award in 2011. She has since held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Toronto and Cornell University. She won a Gold Award in Canada’s National Magazine Awards for her short story ‘Cord’, which was published in The Malahat Review in 2020.
