‘Today, at the Dump, The World is in the Bin’ by UEA alumna Andrea Mason has been named as one of the Desperate Literature Prize runners-up. Andrea graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2004 and gained a PhD in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths, London, in 2020. In 2018 her first novel, The Cremation Project, was shortlisted for the Fitzcarraldo Editions Novel Prize and longlisted for the Dzanc Fiction Prize. Andrea is the founder and director of Literary Kitchen, which offers Creative Writing courses, events and consultancy services. She is a Lecturer in Contextual and Theoretical Studies at the University of the Arts, London. Her short story ‘Ada & Carter’ was the winner of the 2020 Aleph Writing Prize and was published as a limited edition in 2020. She was also shortlisted for the 2020 Manchester Fiction Prize.
