UEA alumna Henrietta Rose-Innes has won the University of Johannesburg Prize for Literary Translation, an annual prize awarded for the best creative works in five translation categories. Henrieta is a South African novelist and short-story writer who graduated from the Creative and Critical Writing PhD in 2018. She was the 2008 winner of the Caine Prize for African Writing and her novels Nineveh and Green Lion were both shortlisted for the 2012 Sunday Times Prize for Fiction. Her story ‘Sanctuary’ was awarded second place in the 2012 BBC (Inter)national Short Story Award, and in 2019, her story collection Animalia Paradoxa came out from Boiler House Press.
