Two UEA alumni have been longlisted for the Deborah Rogers Foundation Writers Award. John Steciuk (pictured), who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2017 and is currently completing the Creative Critical PhD, is nominated for his short story collection The Reservoirs are Colder and Deeper than you Think; and Michelle Alipao Chikaonda, who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Non-Fiction) in 2023, is nominated for her essay collection The Dying Embers of Our Setting Sun. The award seeks to discover and support emerging talent in the publishing world, providing £10,000 to an unpublished writer to enable them to complete a first book. The shortlist will be announced in November, and the winner will be announced on 9th November at an event in London.
