After the Flood Comes the Apologies by current UEA student Naoise Gale has been shortlisted in the 2023 Poetry Book Awards, a prize for poetry pamphlets and books published by indies, self-published poets, small presses, and independent publishers. Naoise (pictured) joined the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) this year. Her debut pamphlet After the Flood Comes the Apologies was published by Nine Pens in October 2021. Her first full-length collection IMPLODE EXPLODE was published by Beir Bua in 2022. Naoise won this year’s Ledbury Poetry competition, and she was also longlisted for the 2023 Disabled Poets Prize and the 2022 Fish Poetry Prize and was shortlisted in the Creative Futures’ Writers Award in 2021. Her work has also been published in Opia Lit, Versification and Nightingale and Sparrow, among others. The top three winners for the Poetry Book Award will be announced on 1 Nov.
