Bridget Walsh & Katherine Black longlisted for CWA New Blood Dagger Award

Two UEA alumnae have been longlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association’s ILP John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger Award. The Award is for the best crime novel by a first-time author of any nationality with their first novel of any kind published in the UK in English during the judging period. Bridget Walsh (pictured), who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) in 2019 as a recipient of the David Higham Scholarship, is nominated for The Tumbling Girl; and Katherine Black, who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) in 2019, is nominated for A Most Unusual Demise. Bridget’s dissertation won the UEA Little, Brown Award. Her debut novel The Tumbling Girl was published by Gallic Books in 2023. The Innocents, her second, was published by Gallic Books this month. Katherine was born and raised in Texas, she has spent most of her life in England and has a background in Art History. She came third in the 2021 Yeovil Literary Prize Novel category, and was previously longlisted for the Crime Writers Association’s Debut Dagger award. Her debut novel, A Most Unusual Demise, was published by Bloodhound Books in 2023. Her second novel, A Most Malicious Messenger, was published by Bloodhound Books in 2024.
