Two UEA alumnae have been longlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize, a prize for a novel by a woman over the age of 18 that marries literary merit with ‘unputdownability’. The winner will be awarded a prize of £1,500 and all shortlisted entrants will receive one-to-one consultation with an agent at Peter Fraser + Dunlop who will give each author editorial feedback as well as publishing advice. Rosa Chalfen (pictured), who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2023, is nominated for Bellyache; and Dawn Jelley, who graduate from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2024, is nominated for The Suffolk Merman. The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in May.
