The Coast Road is the debut novel by UEA alumnus Alan Murrin and is published by Bloomsbury Circus this week. Alan studied English Studies at Trinity College Dublin, and graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA in 2017. Now based in Berlin, he writes for The Irish Times, The Times Literary Supplement and The Spectator. In 2021 his short story ‘The Wake’ was shortlisted for the Writing.ie Short Story of the Year competition. It was first published in Waves of Change (Fresher Publishing). In 2022 an earlier version of The Coast Road was shortlisted for the PetersFraser+Dunlop Queer Fiction Prize in the Adult Fiction category and longlisted for the Caledonia Novel Award.
