Ferdia Lennon wins Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize

Glorious Exploits by UEA alumnus Ferdia Lennon has won the Waterstone’s Debut Fiction Prize—an award for exceptional first novels, voted for by their booksellers. Ferdia (pictured) is from Dublin and studied History and Classical Studies at University College Dublin before joining the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction). He graduated in 2014. His work has been published in a number of journals and anthologies and in 2012 he was shortlisted for the Sean O’ Faolain Short Story Competition, was longlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize in 2019, and in 2020 was longlisted for the Galley Begger Prize. He was recently selected for the National Centre for Writing’s International Literature Exchange program, supported by the British Council and Arts Council England.
