Between This World and the Next is the debut novel by UEA alumnus Praveen Herat and was published by Restless Books in the US in June (where it won the Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing) and Selkies House in the UK in August. Praveen graduated from MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 1999. He is a first-generation immigrant, born in London to Sri Lankan parents. He is an itinerant emigrant, lived for three years in Phnom Penh and currently lives in Paris. He has worked to support victims of domestic abuse, project manage museum events and as an academic coach for young students.
