

Moniza Alvi was born in Pakistan, and grew up in Hertfordshire. Her seven collections of poetry include The Country at My Shoulder (OUP 1993) which was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot and the Whitbread poetry prizes, Europa (Bloodaxe 2008), also shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot prize and, most recently, Homesick for the Earth, versions of the French poet, Jules Supervielle (Bloodaxe 2011). She received a Cholmondeley Award in 2002.
