
Goldschmidt, Saskia
SASKIA GOLDSCHMIDT is a Dutch novelist and writer whose work has been translated into several languages, including German, French, Afrikaans and Turkish. Her first novel, De hormoonfabriek (Cossee 2012), was on the longlist for the Libris Literature Prize 2013 and was also nominated for the Euregio Prize. Its English translation, The Hormone Factory (tr. Hester Velmans), was published in the US by Other Press (2014) and in the UK by Saraband (2016). Her second novel was the best-selling De voddenkoningin (The Vintage Queen, Cossee 2015). Her most recent novel, Schokland (2018), translated into English as Shocked Earth (Saraband 2021), is the first major novel about the effects of gas extraction on people living in the Dutch province of Groningen.
