

Harris, Jane
Jane Harris graduated from UEA's MA in Creative Writing in 1992, and completed her PhD in Creative and Critical Writing in 1995. Between 1992 and 1994 she was the Arts Council Writer-in-Residence at HMP Durham, and for several years she taught on UEA’s undergraduate Creative Writing programme. Her first novel The Observations was published by Faber and Faber in 2006 and was nominated for numerous prizes, including the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction. Her second novel Gillespie and I was published in 2011 by Faber and Faber and was shortlisted for the Galaxy National Book Awards Popular Novel of the Year. Her work is translated into over 20 languages. Jane is married to the film and TV director, Tom Shankland, another graduate of the UEA MA.
