Shah, Avani
Avani grew up behind the counter in various newsagents’ shops around London and is interested in documenting the second-generation immigrant experience. Her work-in-progress novel – We Are Those Lions – follows the lives of a Kenyan Indian family who get caught up in the Grunwick Strike (1976-1978). Avani has a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, also from UEA, and her short story ‘Mira/Meera’ appeared in Words and Women: Two.
