Shantelle was born in South Africa and graduated from the University of Cape Town with a degree in Economics. She worked for a decade as a journalist for CNN. Her current project concerns her great uncle, Louis Washkansky, who was the recipient of the world’s first heart transplant in South Africa in 1967.
