Wu Xianlin was born in Shanghai where, after completing an MA in English literature, she wrote her first novel, Glass Eyeballs. She came to England in 2009 to study writing and is currently working on her second novel. Set in the Han Dynasty, it examines one of the best-loved myths in the Chinese canon – that of a young woman sent as a bride-offering to a barbarian nation 2000 years ago – and explores the nebulous connection between art and life.
