

Avni Doshi
Avni Doshi was born in New Jersey. She has a BA in Art History from Barnard College in New York and a Masters in History of Art from University College London. Before writing fiction, Avni worked as a curator and art critic with a specialization in contemporary art from South Asia. She was awarded the Tibor Jones South Asia Prize in 2013 and the Charles Pick Writing Fellowship at UEA in 2014. Avni lives in Dubai with her family. Burnt Sugar / Girl in White Cotton is her first novel. It was longlisted for the Tata First Book Prize in 2019 and the Booker Prize in 2020.
