Helen Gray completed the Creative Writing (Prose) MA at UEA with distinction and went on to study the Crime Fiction MA at UEA. Helen’s writing usually leans towards comic fiction, although, as her work here shows, often with darker undertones, exploring themes such as social inequality and mental health. She currently works at Norfolk Constabulary.
Helen’s short story “Unsupervised Dead Women” was awarded the 2025 CWA Margery Allingham Short Mystery Competition. Her novel, Dickie, was shortlisted for the UEA / Little, Brown Award (2025).
