James McDermott is a Norfolk based playwright and poet represented by Independent Talent. He’s an alumnus of UEA’s MA in Creative Writing (Scriptwriting) (2015-2016) and wrote the first draft of Time and Tide for his MA dissertation. James has trained on The Royal Court Writers Group, Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab and Hampstead Theatre’s Inspire: The Next Playwright Programme. James’s plays include Fast Food (Lyric Hammersmith) which starred Jude Law, Street Life (Norwich Theatre Royal) and Rubber Ring (Pleasance Islington; UK Tour). James’s plays are published by Samuel French. James is currently writing new plays for Hampstead Theatre, Eastern Angles, Norwich Playhouse, Norwich Arts Centre and Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds. James has performed his poetry at venues across the country and his debut collection Manatomy is published by Burning Eye Books in July 2020.
