UEA alumnus Ed Parnell has won the 2014 Rethink New Novels Prize for his debut novel ‘The Listeners’. Ed (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2007 and was one of that year’s ten Escalator Award winners, funded by the Arts Council. In 2009 he was awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship to fund a six-week research expedition to Australia. Prior to joining UEA, Ed worked for BirdLife International and was subsequently employed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. He is currently working as a freelance editor and copywriter. ‘The Listeners’ will be published by Rethink Press later this year.
