Four UEA alumni have been longlisted for the 2015 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. They are David Almond (BA 1973) for ‘Half A Creature From The Sea’, published by Walker Books; Avril Joy (BA 1972) for ‘Millie and Bird: Tales of Paradise’, published by Iron Press; Toby Litt (MA 1995) for ‘Life-like’, published by Seagull Press; and Eliza Robertson (MA 2012; current PhD) for ‘Wallflowers’ (pictured), published by Bloomsbury. The award of €25,000 is the world’s richest prize for a short story collection. The shortlist will be decided towards the end of May and made public in early June, and the winner will be announced at the Cork International Short Story Festival in September.
