Temple is the new play by UEA Senior Lecturer in Scriptwriting, Steve Waters, and is currently playing at the Donmar Warehouse, London. Exploring the impact of the Occupy London movement on the clerical hierarchy of St Paul’s, the play is directed by Howard Davies and stars Simon Russell Beale. Before joining UEA, Steve (pictured) ran the MPhil(B) in Playwriting Studies at the University of Birmingham, a course he studied on under David Edgar in 1992-3. His book about playwriting, The Secret Life of Plays, was published in 2010, and he has written numerous works for radio, including most recently Scribblers, which will be broadcast in July. Among his critically acclaimed work for the stage are Little Platoons and The Contingency Plan (both at the Bush Theatre, London), Fast Labour (West Yorkshire Playhouse and Hampstead Theatre, London), and World Music (Sheffield Crucible/Donmar Warehouse), all of which are published by Nick Hern Books. Temple runs at the Donmar Warehouse until 25 July and tickets can be booked here.
