Words and Women: Three is the latest annual collection of short prose by women writers in the East of England, and is published by Unthank Books this week to coincide with International Women’s Day. The volume – which contains memoir, fiction and creative non-fiction – is edited by UEA alumnae Lynne Bryan (MA 1985) and Belona Greenwood (MA 2005) and contains the 22 winning entries from the 2015 Words and Women writing competition. The stories were selected by UEA alumna Emma Healey (MA 2011), author of Elizabeth Is Missing, who also contributes the introduction. Among the selected pieces are four by UEA graduates: ‘Strictly Belly Dance’ by Susan K Burton (MA 2014; current PhD); ‘A Canary In Kabul’ by Antoinette Moses (MA 2004; PhD 2009), ‘The Second First Time’ by Dani Redd (MA 2014; current PhD), and ‘Thin Walls’ by Sarah Ridgard (MA 2002).
