Novels by three UEA alumni and a recent UEA writing fellow have been included in the longlist for this year’s £30,000 Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction. They are Stay With Me (Canongate), the debut novel by Ayobami Adebayo (pictured), who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2014; The Power (Viking), the fourth novel by 2003 MA graduate Naomi Alderman; The Woman Next Door (Vintage) by UEA’s 2014 Etisalat African Writing Fellow, Yewande Omotoso; and The Gustav Sonata (Chatto & Windus) by Rose Tremain, who graduated from UEA with a BA in English in 1967 and later returned to teach on the Creative Writing MA and, more recently, to become the University’s first female Chancellor. The winner of the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction will be announced on 7th June 2017.
