The Wanted Girl by current UEA Creative Writing student Rajasree Variyar has been shortlisted for the inaugural Mo Siewcharran Prize, a new annual award for an unpublished novel by a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic writer. Rajasree (pictured) graduated from the University of Sydney in 2009 and is currently completing her MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA. The winner of the Mo Siewcharran Prize, which is worth £2,500 plus a publishing deal with Little, Brown imprint Dialogue Books, will be announced on 4 November. There is a second prize of £1,500 and a third prize of £750.
