Two UEA alumni have been longlisted for the Galley Beggar Short Story Prize. Vijay Khurana is nominated for ‘About Suffering’ and Ferdia Lennon for ‘Samhain’. Ferdia is from Dublin and studied History and Classical Studies at University College Dublin before joining the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction). He graduated in 2014. His work has been published in a number of journals and anthologies and in 2012 he was shortlisted for the Sean O’ Faolain Short Story Competition and in 2019 longlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize. Vijay (pictured) graduated in 2019 from the MFA in Creative Writing at UEA, and was also shortlisted for the Galley Beggar Prize in 2019. His children’s chapter book Regal Beagle was published in 2014. This year’s Galley Beggar shortlist will be announced on 5 February and the winner – who will receive £2000 – on 17 February.
