Writing Talk: Interviews with Writers about the Creative Process is a new collection of interviews by UEA alumnus Derek Neale and is published by Routledge this week. It includes interviews with nineteen contemporary writers, including UEA graduates Sarah Butler, Andrew Cowan and Toby Litt, and former UEA Professors of Creative Writing Patricia Duncker, Richard Holmes and Michèle Roberts. Derek graduated from the UEA Creative Writing MA in 1993 and completed his PhD in Creative and Critical Writing in 1997. He taught for a number of years on the UEA Creative Writing programme, and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the Open University, where he helped design, write and present the course materials for a range of OU writing courses. He is the author and co-author of three practical guidebooks, all of which were published in 2009: A Creative Writing Handbook: developing dramatic technique, individual style and voice, Life Writing (with Sara Haslam), and Writing Fiction (with Linda Anderson). His novel The Book Of Guardians was published in 2012.
