Natural Phenomena by UEA alumna Meryl Pugh has been longlisted for the inaugural Laurel Prize, an annual award for the best collection of nature or environmental poetry. Meryl graduated from the UEA PhD in Creative and Critical Writing in 2013 and recently returned to UEA to teach on the MA in Creative Writing (Poetry). Natural Phenomena is her first full length collection and was published in 2018 by Penned in the Margins. She previously published two pamphlets of poetry: Relinquish (Arrowhead Press) in 2007 and The Bridle (Salt) in 2011. The Laurel Prize is established and funded by the UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage and run by The Poetry School.
