‘Mavourneen’ by current UEA student Annie Friedlein has been shortlisted for the Historical Writers’ Association (HWA) Dorothy Dunnett short story competition. Annie (pictured) recently joined the UEA MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) and will graduate in 2022. Previously she studied Modern Languages at Cambridge University and Art istory at the Courtauld Institute. She has worked as a publicist for galleries and arts organisations including the Serpentine Gallery, Art Fund, Henry Moore Foundation and the South London Gallery, and is the co-founder of Detail Art, a collecting consultancy, and of the charity theatre company Wren Productions. The winner of the HWA competition will be announced on 2 November.
