Under Violent Skies by UEA alumna Judi Daykin has been longlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger, which awards the best crime novel by a first-time author of any nationality. Judi graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) at UEA in 2019. Under Violent Skies was previously shortlisted for the Little, Brown / UEA writers prize and was published by Joffe in 2020. Her second novel Into Deadly Storms was published by Joffe Books earlier this year. Judi is a working actor with a portfolio career spanning twenty years of theatre, film and television, directing, workshops and medical roleplay. She runs her own theatre company, Broad Horizons, specialising in commissioning new plays recovering and retelling women’s stories.
