Waking the Tiger by UEA alumnus Mark Wightman has been shortlisted for the 2022 Crime Writers’ Association John Creasy (New Blood) Dagger Award for the best debut crime novel. It was published by Hobeck last year and has previously been shortlisted for the Scottish Crime Debut of the Year Award and longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize for the best Scottish crime fiction debut. Mark graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Crime Writing) in 2018. Two other UEA alumni were longlisted for the award: Hunted by Antony Dunford, who graduated from the Crime Writing MA in 2019, and Sixteen Horses by Greg Buchanan, who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2018. The winner of the CWA Award will be announced on 29 June.
