Black Butterflies by UEA alumna Priscilla Morris has been shortlisted for the Nota Bene Prize. Published by Duckworth Books last year, Black Butterflies was also shortlisted for the Authors Club Best First Novel Award, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Ondaatje Prize, and is currently shortlisted for the Wilbur & Niso Smith Foundation Best Published Novel Award. Priscilla (pictured) grew up in London and read Spanish, Italian, and Social Anthropology at Cambridge University. After teaching English in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro, she joined the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at UEA, graduating in 2009, before completing the PhD in Creative & Critical Writing in 2013. She now lectures in Creative Writing at University College, Dublin and lives between Ireland and Catalonia. The winner of the Nota Bene Prize will be announced on 4 September.
