The second edition of The Art of Writing Fiction, a guidebook to Creative Writing, by UEA alumnus and Emeritus Professor Andrew Cowan was published by Routledge last week. Andrew graduated from the UEA Creative Writing MA in 1985 and is the author of six novels. Pig won five literary awards including the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and was shortlisted for five other awards. Common Ground and Crustaceans both received competitive Arts Council bursaries. What I Know was a recipient of an Arts Council Writers’ Award and was published in 2005. Worthless Men was published in 2013 and shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Award. His most recent novel Your Fault was published by Salt in 2019. The first edition of his guidebook, The Art of Writing Fiction, was published in 2011 by Pearson Longman.
