Two UEA alumni have been shortlisted for the 2023 East Anglian Book Awards. James McDermott (pictured), who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) in 2016, is nominated for his collection Wild Life in the poetry category; and Margaret Meyer, who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2020, is nominated for her novel The Witching Tide in the fiction category. Now in their sixteenth year, the awards celebrate writing talent within the East of England. The East Anglian Book Awards are a partnership between Jarrolds, theĀ Eastern Daily Press, and the National Centre for Writing. The category winners of the East Anglian Awards will be announced in the Eastern Daily Press in January, followed by the Overall Book of the Year Award and the Exceptional Contribution Award later in 2024.
