Two UEA alumni have been longlisted for the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award, the longest-running UK prize for debut fiction. Alice Slater, who graduatedfrom the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2011, is nominated for her novel Death of a Bookseller; and Stephen Buoro, who graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2019 and the Creative and Critical PhD in 2022, is nominated for his novel The Five Sorrowful Mysteries of Andy Africa. The Awards shortlist will be announced on 25 March and the winner on 22 May.
