A Spell of Good Things by UEA alumna Ayòbámi Adébáyò has been shortlisted for The Swansea University Dylan Thomas Prize, an award for the best published literary work in the English language written by an author aged 39 or under. Ayòbámi (pictured) graduated from the MA in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) in 2014. Her debut novel Stay With Me was shortlisted for the Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2017 and the Wellcome Book Prize in 2018. It was longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize in 2018 and the Prix Les Afriques in 2020. It was also named the winner of the 9Mobile Prize for Literature in 2019. A Spell of Good Things was also longlisted for the 2023 Booker Prize. The winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize will be announced at an award ceremony on 16 May.
