FX                                                                   WINTER BIRDS SINGING, A DOG, OFF

MAN IN BLACK:

A traditional Cotswolds cottage, separated from its
neighbours by old beech hedges and overgrown shrubs. A
little neglected perhaps. Go closer and you can see that the
yellow paint is peeling from the door. Closer still, it looks dark
inside. An old person’s house. I can see what you’re thinking;
if a house like this came on the market… fifty, maybe a
hundred thousand less than it’s worth. Prices round here are
astronomic. Oh yes, you appreciate the potential. Room for
a swing, even a sandpit like the one you used to have. Why
don’t you knock on the door? You shivered. There’s no heat
in the sun, is there, this time of year. But why hesitate? Don’t
you think it looks like a house that needs a family in it?
Because, I would say that house was crying out for the patter
of tiny feet…
